“Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man” is a saying attributed to St. Ignatius of Loyola. “Give me four years to teach the children, and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted” is credited to Vladimir Lenin. Lenin followed up with another quote that stated, “Destroy the family, you destroy the country.” Similar statements were in the original BLM goals and similar far left Marxist groups.
The issues before the electorate in the May primary are a stark choice between parent control or government indoctrination of our children. Students are now taught that the government is gospel, grants your rights and never lies. Your self-worth is not important only your group worth. The “educators” (the bureaucrats running education who rarely were in a classroom) today are interested in three things: Money, Power, and Control.
If you think that the vote on May 16th is only about more money for the Coeur d’Alene school district you are missing the main issues. The district has not hidden their true objectives and that is about power and control of the children. The national teacher’s union (NEA) has urged a NO vote on the Parents Bill of Rights at the national and state level. They have opposed efforts (as in Idaho) to protect women and girls in sports to not allow men to identify as women and compete in women’s events. They oppose any common sense or decency mandates on books in the libraries or classrooms for students. If you oppose books with graphic descriptions and illustrations of sexual acts, you are a “book burning censor” that is opposed to freedom of the press. Really? Their remedy is to have the parent be the gate keeper and if they don’t want the book to be read by the child then don’t allow it. Really? How about we keep the trash out of the schools and libraries and if a parent wants that type of pornography for their child, they purchase it with their own money. Follow this issue on the local community groups website that is opposing the indoctrination. (https://www.cleanbooks4kids.com/) But it is not just about sexuality, trans-gender, sports, locker rooms and rest rooms in the schools it is about parental rights. The legislature has made some important first steps to rein in school districts about these issues and their misguided policies.
But we are faced with indoctrination in our schools on topics of race theory, socialism vs free enterprise and old fashioned values of hard work and self-control. We are defined by our individual efforts not by skin color or ethnic heritage. Of course, man was warned early on about the wages of sin. Proverbs 5:22-23 says: “The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast. He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly.” Contrast this with New Age theorist Marilyn Ferguson’s view: “Human nature is neither good nor bad….it is only to discover itself.” Absolute truth is rejected and this applies to absolute values of right and wrong. If we can no longer trust even the idea of truth, opinion is all that matters. Today’s relativists could not have gotten away with their double standards in a culture that prized truth.
This is a battle for our nation and if we do not stand up for truth in these local elections and recognize it is not just about our school board’s request for more funding and who will make decisions on our library board we are doomed.
There are several excellent books and articles coming from people who have lived under totalitarian governments and this is what we are facing. I would recommend Rod Dreher’s book Live Not By Lies and in particular the chapter of the Benda clan surviving in communist Czechoslovakia. The other book is Hitler’s Cross by Erwin Lutzer as he recounts the Nazi takeover of the church in Germany and the tragic results as more than 800 pastors and priests were sent to the camps. This is beginning in our own country with an anti-Christian movement.
We have few opportunities to make a difference and local elections is where it begins. It is so important to vote on May 16th and send a message of a NO vote to the Coeur d’Alene school board. Hundreds of parents have already voted with their feet and pulled their children out of the system. Vote Tom Hanley and Tim Plass for the library board. Again, this is not about a funding levy for schools but a vote to stop the indoctrination and stand up against the attacks on our country and values.
