There has always been something fishy about Tom Luna and we should all know what it is by now. Let me first say that Mr. Luna is a patronizing hypocrite who is still upset he lost his election as chairman of the Idaho GOP. This is a position he should have never been voted into and he only won that election by a few votes. Most Idahoans forget that it was Tom Luna who brought Common Core to our public education system. The system that was going to change and fix whatever was supposedly wrong with our education system.
The problem is there never was anything wrong with our education system that common core was going to fix. Our problem with Idaho’s public education is with the people who run it. Starting with the local Boards of education and working its way up the line to Idaho’s Superintendent of Education and the Idaho State Board of Education. It is no different in business or politics than it is in education if you have bad management, you will get bad outcomes. Luna has had an opportunity to be in charge of both and the outcomes have been unacceptable.
Tom Luna issued a press release on June 4, stating, “Ammon Bundy is not suited to call himself an Idaho Republican let alone run for Governor of our great state.” Luna was not shy about stating what he perceives to be Bundy’s sins, and even made the unsubstantiated claim that Bundy wishes to “divide” the Republican party. What is interesting is that Bundy had only filled out the proper application forms to run for governor, but he had not announced that he was going to enter the race. Luna made a preemptive attack on Bundy’s candidacy knowing he would be a threat to Brad Little getting a 2nd term. Bundy even offered Luna 20 minutes to speak at his June 19 announcement and could tell everyone why Bundy shouldn’t be in the republican party, Of course, Luna declined the invitation.
Luna also said “Mr. Bundy is currently not registered to vote in Idaho, and he is not even a registered Republican and furthermore, we do not support Bundy’s antics or his chaotic political theater. That is not the Idaho Republican Party, and we will not turn a blind eye to his behaviors.” Mr. Luna needs to read Idaho’s constitution as you don’t need to be a registered voter to run for governor you only need to be a United States citizen, 30 years old and be a resident of Idaho for 2 years.
He further said that he was elected Chairman of the Idaho Republican Party to unite all Republicans to share and celebrate conservative values and preserve our traditional way of life. Conversely, Ammon Bundy wishes to divide our party, openly supports defunding the police, and has known alliances with the radical factions of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.” He went on to say. “Republicans are the party of law and order, and Ammon Bundy is not suited to call himself an Idaho Republican let alone run for Governor of our great state.” Bundy never wished to divide the party as the party was already divided and has been its own worst enemy allowing Little to run rip shod over the state during the covid crisis. Anyone who doesn’t think that the republican party in Idaho is divided is a complete and utter fool. We have too many low information voters who just go to the polls and pull the lever that has an R after it. That is how we have wound up with a budget that has grown by billions in the four years since Brad Little took office in 2018.
We need to ask Mr. Luna if you say your republican party is for law and order, why was the party silent during the illegal two-year covid emergency that the Governor implemented? Where were you, Mr. Luna, when the governor refused to call the legislature back to help with the distribution of over a billion in covid money from the feds? Where were you when the Governor recalled the legislature to get himself ABSOLVED FROM LIABILITY for his actions in arbitrarily closing down businesses, he considered non-essential? Or how about closing churches and actually allowing the arrest of people attending a service? Mr. Luna if you’re the party of law and order, I ask you whose law and what order?
I think it is a good thing Tom Luna is no longer the chairman of the Idaho GOP because he has once again shown his RINO horn to the citizens of Idaho.
Tom Luna is so full of himself he can’t get out of his own way. Tom, you lost the election to be head of the Idaho Republican Party and now we have to listen to you complain about Republicans supporting an independent who had to turn independent to avoid the usual three-way primary fiasco that you and the IACI cabal run every 4 years. You are the one who threw Bundy out of the Republican Party. Your arguments on Bundy don’t hold water and as far as most Idahoans are concerned this is nothing more than sour grapes on your part. You are the one who doesn’t belong in the republican party as you have done more to damage this state with your introduction of Common Core to our education system than any other politician in Idaho’s history. Please move to Washington D.C. where you might get some RINOs to listen to you complain because we don’t need you in Idaho to continue to play like you’re a conservative republican. You have shown who you are, and you are definitely not a conservative in any sense of the word. You could leave tomorrow, and I assure you no one would miss you except your RINO buddies. It is because of people like yourself that Idaho has shifted so much to the left and now that you see that the people are upset with this move you want to cry foul. Please find someplace else to hang your hat because we are just plain tired of you and your herd of tax and spend elitists boring us to death with your platitudes every time there is an election. Go to D.C. where you belong with the rest of the bungling bureaucrats who are busy sucking the life out of our country.
