This is just another example of how the Deep State continues to defy the President and the will of the people as expressed in the 2016 election.
The Constitution makes the President the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, but for the past ten months the Nation’s principal law enforcement agency – the FBI – has been participating in nothing less than a coup against President Trump and Congress.
Our friend Rick Manning of Americans for Limited Government summed-up the latest revelations about the coup against President Trump this way:
Laura Jarret and Evan Perez of CNN revealed that it was an FBI counterintelligence official, Peter Strzok, who edited an exoneration into what was supposed to be the final report on the Clinton email investigation well in advance of Hillary Clinton’s interview with the FBI that, as Fox News’ Catherine Herridge reports, he was leading. The Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross also reports that Strzok was the same agent who questioned Cheryl Mills on the private Clinton email server, who along with other Clinton aides was later granted immunity. Sara Carter at Hannity.com reports that Strzok was also the same agent who questioned former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn about his conversations with multiple ambassadors, a meeting which was set up by Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe under false pretenses as a routine discussion of security procedures at the White House.
That Strzok was at the center of the Hillary Clinton non-investigation and then seamlessly transferred to the Mueller investigation of President Trump is truly astonishing – particularly when it was revealed that Strzok is himself a security risk for conducting an extramarital affair with another FBI employee.
In the real world of corporate America or the military that would be grounds for dismissal and revocation of his security clearance, but Strzok seems – like Hillary Clinton and her co-conspirators – strangely immune from the perils that hang over the heads of other American citizens.
However, this strange FBI immunity from the laws and rules that affect the rest of America isn’t limited to Peter Strzok – the entire FBI seems to be infected by it.
An internal House memo obtained by Fox News, and reported by senior Washington Reporter James Rosen, a senior counsel for the House Intelligence Committee urged Republican Chairman Devin Nunes three weeks ago to pursue contempt of Congress citations against the Justice Department and FBI.
Rosen reports Congressional investigators accuse those agencies of withholding key documents and an FBI witness that could shed light on whether U.S. officials under then-President Barack Obama relied on the infamous anti-Trump “dossier” to justify surveillance against associates of then-candidate Donald Trump.
“We’re trying to work with DOJ and the FBI. We hope that they will comply, but if they don’t they leave us very little option, very few options,” Nunes, R-Calif., told Fox News.
He said they sent subpoenas out in June, July and August “that still haven’t been complied with.”
Nunes added, “So I think stonewalling would be putting it lightly.”
The dossier is the compendium of salacious and mostly unverified allegations about Trump and others on his campaign that was compiled last year by the opposition research firm Fusion GPS and based in part on Russian sourcing.
Bank records obtained by the Nunes panel revealed that the dossier was funded by the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
In early January, Trump said it was “a group of opponents that got together — sick people — and they put that crap together.”
GOP lawmakers have spent eight months – including issuing a subpoena on Aug. 24 – probing whether then-FBI Director James Comey and other officials, who received the dossier in July 2016, used it to place surveillance on Trump associates.
Back in March, Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, asked Comey if he was investigating the claims made in the dossier.
“I’m not gonna comment on that, Mr. Castro,” Comey replied.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., who was briefed this week on the panel’s probe, is said to be working behind the scenes to advance the case, following stern public comments last month claims Rosen.
“We’ve had these document requests with the administration, with the FBI in particular, for a long time and they’ve been stonewalling,” he said on Oct. 25.
Rosen reports that in the internal memo, Nunes’ counsel wrote: “After eight months of ongoing verbal, written, and subpoenaed requests — and engagement by Committee and House leadership at the highest levels — DOJ/FBI continues to impede the Committee’s legitimate investigative efforts and hinders the Committee’s ability to conduct effective oversight.”
The counsel wrote, “Staff therefore recommends further congressional compliance actions” – a phrase sources told Rosen was code for contempt citations.
Rick Manning summed-up his take on the Strzok affair this way:
It is anti-American to have a politically weaponized FBI and Justice Department. The evidence now available indicates that higher-ups at the FBI would pursue any measure in their attempts not only to prop up Hillary Clinton, but to take down President Trump at any cost. Since the entire Mueller investigation is the fruit of this poisonous tree, the only course Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein can pursue must be to fire Mueller and end this political coup in order to restore the rule of law.
We agree with Manning. This is just another example of how the Deep State continues to defy the President and the will of the people as expressed in the 2016 election. The soft coup Manning referenced is real and Mueller, Comey and Strzok are at the heart of it. It is time for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray to recover control of their agencies before the soft coup engenders a real constitutional crisis.
