It’s interesting that the same government officials who caused our current inflation problem with huge spending policies are now telling us that they can fix the problem with price controls. I have never heard of anything so dumb in my life. My educational background is in economics and history so when I listen to these absurd ideas being thrown around by the likes of Kamala Harris, it makes me cringe.
One of my favorite sayings is “If you don’t know history you are destined to repeat it.” Most of you may not remember the last time we had price controls. Let me refresh your memories. It was in 1971 when Richard Nixon showed us just how dangerous unchecked executive power can be to the free-enterprise system. He ordered a freeze on all prices and wages throughout the United States. After a 90-day freeze, increases would have to be approved by a “Pay Board” and a “Price Commission. This put government in total control of most Americans’ lives with the exception of the wealthy elitists. Nixon’s policy turned into a complete disaster as he put the economy into a permanent straight jacket. But just like today, the press hailed this as a great idea as stock markets rallied and even polling showed that 75% of the people liked the idea. We are seeing a similar reaction from the liberal press and stock markets today as Kamala Harris tells Americans how she can fix all the problems she has helped create over the past 3 ½ years in office.
Let me remind you that it was economist Milton Friedman who predicted that the people would eventually pay the price for this lame-brained idea. It wasn’t long before Ranchers stopped shipping their cattle to the market, farmers drowned their chickens, and consumers emptied the shelves of supermarkets. If businesses can’t make a reasonable profit they will shut down. Once again, I bring up the phrase “We have met the enemy and it is us.”
We should ask the simple question; do you see the folly of America under the leadership of Kamala Harris? These ideas she is putting forward are straight from her father who some call a Marxist or even a Communist. Neither one is correct as Kamala’s father Donald Harris was a post Keynesian which assumes that markets alone cannot ensure full employment. Like most other economists of his ilk, he believed the government had to stimulate demand and be concerned with the distribution of income or how a country’s wealth is distributed amongst its people. Harris’s father wrote several books “Capital Accumulation and Income Distribution,” which showed his preoccupation with exploitation and other concepts that came straight from Karl Marx’s theory of capital. He argued that the inequality that beset Black people in the U.S. did not come from colonial rule but instead that the problem existed because of capitalism. This should lead us to understand why she pushes DEI so fervently. Is she her father’s daughter? I would say yes and she is proving it with the various promises she is making in her campaign speeches. Essentially she has all the qualities of a raging socialist.
Yes, folks, Kamala is heading down the road of Folly with her idea that government needs to step in and control the prices of food, drugs, and who knows what else. We have already had a taste of what Biden-omics has done to our country in terms of the rampant inflation which is destroying middle-class America. Do you really think that the government should have a say in how much you should have to pay for a box of Frosted Flakes or a dozen eggs? I ask you to remember the price hikes from the 1973 Arab oil embargo which made it politically difficult to unwind controls on gasoline, leading to the gas lines of the late 1970s. The damage the government could do if we gave them the power to impose wage and price controls would essentially destroy the free-market economy and take years to repair. Ideas like these are the product of people who have little or no knowledge of economics or business as they are lifetime politicians.
Do you really think that the people who created today’s problems in our economy could possibly know how to fix it? Wage and price controls are the policies that are used by communist countries like Russia and Venezuela causing poverty and hardship. Neither Kamala nor Walz have any experience in the business world. All they know is power and control so they can manipulate the people with the help of the liberal media as the propaganda machine will be working overtime to get her elected.
Biden and Kamala have proved how they can destroy our economy in only 3 ½ years. Can you imagine what she could do if she were elected president? Kamala has been at Joe Biden’s side touting his policies and has done nothing to fix the problems we have. She was given the job of stopping the flow of illegals and failed miserably as millions of them have crossed into America with the help of the Biden administration. Listening to Kamala’s campaign speech and the promises she is making made me think of the Snake Oil salesman of days gone by. She tells anyone who will listen that we have inflation because of greedy corporations who are raising prices to make more profit. What she doesn’t tell you is that the margin of profit for supermarkets on groceries is between 1 & 3%. The problem is that many low-information Americans are going to fall for her lies and therein lies the rub. If you want to know which corporations are making the big profits look no further than the technology companies who have contributed millions to her campaign. Apple’s profit margin is 26% while one of our major supermarket chains like Kroger’s have profit margins are about 1.43%. Kamala is not running a campaign they are telling you a fairy tale in hopes that you will believe the BS that comes out of her mouth at these campaign rallies.
I only hope that low-information Americans will not fall for this hoax of a politician because if elected she will definitely lead us down the Road to Perdition. History shows allowing the government to set prices has always been a complete failure and I assure you if Harris and Walz are elected to office all but the elite in our country will suffer greatly. Trump and Vance are both successful businessmen and if elected have the ability to turn our country around. Trump has already proven that he could raise all ships with his economic policies in his last term as president. Personally, I would prefer to go down the path of Wisdom which is usually the harder path requiring more effort and sacrifice but will prove to be much more rewarding in the end. The Foolish path will look easy with no suffering or sacrifice when in reality it will cause nothing but suffering and sacrifice. The road of Wisdom will lead to life but the road of Folly will lead to a slow death. A Scoffer can’t receive wisdom so seek the wise man. We will all have an opportunity to choose between the Scoffer and the Wise man on November 5th when we will select the 47th president of the United States and we had all better choose wisely as there will be no second chances and the consequences could be devastating. Let us hope that Lincoln’s infamous quote holds true, “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
