Is our Education System the Cause of Today’s Left/Right Crisis?

While I don’t often think much about conspiracy theories, I believe that this Left/Right rift is becoming more violent by the day. I also believe that the answer to this conundrum lies in our public education system and our left-leaning teachers and professors at our public schools, colleges, and universities. I came across an interesting article that was first published on Big Think in January 2023.

It was 39 years ago, in 1984, when a KGB defector named Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov claimed to know details of a Soviet plan to undermine the U.S. psychologically. In this interview, he gave his prediction of modern America and Russia’s long-term goal of ideologically subverting the U.S. through what he called a brainwashing process that had 4 stages. The first stage was called the demoralizing process, which he said would take twenty years.

Bezmenov said that 85% of the KGB’s work was associated with ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. He explained that this ideological subversion happens in the open as a legitimate process. This program was meant to change the perception of reality of every American to the extent that, despite the abundance of information available, no one would be able to reach sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, or their country. Was this KGB agent telling the truth or was it just a tall tale to create confusion and deception? I ask you to read this article and make your own determination. You can read the entire article HERE.

Americans have become so polarized that we reject facts and instead accept narratives and opinions fed to us every day by the leftist media. If you listen and read enough of this propaganda, it is easy to become demoralized and even angry. A person who becomes demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell them nothing. Even if they are showered with information and authentic proof, with documents, pictures, even if you take them to see in person that all is well, they will refuse to believe the truth, until they receive a good kick in the butt. Could this be what TDS is all about?

The plan Bezmenov laid out in some ways made a lot of sense to me, being a baby boomer and growing up during the Cold War; however, I have my own scenario for the turmoil we are currently facing in our country. Today, there are those who say we as a country are on the verge of civil war—most recently, Joe Rogan on his podcast. I believe we are on the precipice of more serious civil unrest, but not a civil war. We have watched our great cities shift slowly to the left for the last 20 years and create a new type of politician that we have not had to deal with in the past. It becomes apparent that with the advent of these socialist politicians being elected in major cities like NYC and Seattle, America is truly on the road to perdition.

I believe this dichotomy of left and right did not happen overnight, and it actually goes back 50 years or about 2 generations. It is my opinion that our public education system has been a literal brainwashing machine for our children. We, as parents, thought we were leaving our children in the capable hands of our public education system while both parents went to work to earn enough to give their kids a nice home. We trusted our educators and the system that we pay so dearly for with our tax dollars, that they would give our children a good environment for learning the 3 R’s and a history of this great country we live in. We allowed the teachers and administrators to choose the books and deliver the right subject matter to our children, as we gave them the job of picking curricula without so much as a “Hey, why are you teaching my children that garbage?”

After reading Bezmenov’s story, it made me ask if this same ideological subversion could have taken place in our public education system as a legitimate learning process. Call me crazy if you wish, but I suspect that this brainwashing took place right under our noses in our public schools, colleges, and universities. This ideological subversion has been and continues to be reinforced by the liberal media.

It is interesting to note that about 87% of public high school teachers identify as liberal or lean Democratic, while only an estimated 13% identify as conservative or lean Republican. You will find that this disparity is more pronounced in subjects like English and health education, where the ratio can be as high as 97% to 3%%. As parents, we trusted but never really verified what our government education system was teaching our children while paying thousands of our tax dollars for an education taught by leftist teachers and college professors. We thought our children were in the safe hands of trusted public employees. In my opinion, if you want to save our country, start thinking about SCHOOL CHOICE for your children.

It hasn’t been that long since we saw many of our major colleges and universities deal with campus demonstrations supporting the Palestinians, condemning Israel, and burning the American flag. These higher learning institutions charge exorbitant tuition for educating our children, yet too many of them have much higher numbers of liberal professors compared to conservatives, much like our public schools. This disparity can create an environment where conservative viewpoints are marginalized, particularly in the most prestigious institutions, causing concerns about the diversity of thought processes. For instance, in New England, which is the home of some of our most prestigious universities, the ratio of liberal to conservative professors is approximately 28 to 1.

Between 1995 and 2010, the number of moderate and conservative professors decreased significantly, while those who identified as liberal increased, which has led to the perception that academia is largely left leaning. So, as tuition went through the roof, the education our kids were receiving was dominated by leftist ideologies. Is it a wonder that we have seen socialist candidates elected mayor in both NYC and Seattle?

Mind you, Mamdani is 34 years old and never held a real job and Katie Wilson, Seattle’s new mayor, is 43 years old and never had a real job. In fact, she still gets financial support from her parents! Mamdani will be running a city with a $100 billion budget and Wilson will be in charge of Seattle’s $9 billion budget. Hard to believe, isn’t it?

With the election of these two candidates as mayors of two of our major cities by mostly Gen Z and Millennial voters, I believe the assertion of my article is going to be proven to be correct. We are going to see more of these young socialists elected to office over the next few years as Gen Z and Millennials continue to exercise their voting power. Voting in the U.S. has almost always shown that older voters participate at higher rates than younger ones, but it appears that this trend may be changing. Today, Generation Z make up 20.8% of the U.S. population, while Millennials make up 21.8% and together they total 42.6%. I would say that if they continue to go to the polls in large numbers, we can expect many more of our big cities to have socialist governing bodies, since this is where most of this population lives.

This is the battle that Charlie Kirk was fighting at the college campus level (and quite successfully, I might add) and it’s why I believe the left wanted to silence his voice. Charlie saw the handwriting on the wall years ago and was doing something to change the future. He saw what most of us did not—this new generation of voters who had been indoctrinated by a leftist gang of educators who wanted to change our country.

Charlie Kirk saw this generational shift that was taking place every time he spoke on a college campus. People like Mamdani and Wilson are selling these two generations on the fact that they are the ones who will save them and make their lives better, when nothing can be further from the truth. Most of these younger voters expect to spend their lives struggling to do as well as their parents did, and they look to people like Mamdani and Wilson as their champions.

Trump is President for 3 more years, and I believe if the Republicans can maintain control of Congress in next year’s midterm elections, we will see this economy come roaring back in spite of the Dems’ roadblocks.

So, my suggestion to all Americans, including Gen Z and the Millennials: If you want a better life than what you had under 4 years of Biden, you had better get your butts to the polls and vote conservative in next year’s midterm elections!
