A Call for Trump & Musk – Idaho Accountability

Elon Musk and the Chief Operating Officer of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Steve Davis—both rocket scientists, and the six DOGE executives running the DOGE-XAI software reconciliation of government accounts, were interviewed by Bret Baier on Fox News yesterday. A couple of observations and then some comments about the media narrative surrounding DOGE.

First of all, there are over 700 software systems that are being used across all the Federal Government agencies. The computer hardware being used by government employees is antiquated. Well meaning government employees have been struggling for years to run their computers and communicate with citizens and across departmental lines. In the IRS alone in Washington DC there are 1300 IT technicians on call with servicing backlogs lasting weeks. These problems have been brought before Congress since the years when Bill Clinton was President. Halfway through his first term he initiated a process that identified non-essential government workers (400,000) who were subsequently terminated two years later. In 2008 Congress attempted to get their hands around this problem and of course they “formed a committee” that accomplished nothing. At the end of the Obama Presidency, these issues were again addressed, and again the problems only got worse.

The reason for the institutional financial fraud that costs taxpayers billions of dollars every year is not only caused by improper payments, but by a lack of institutional rules that defines who can verify payments, who has signing authority to disperse funds, who justifies and verifies not only the spending of funds, but the codes used for tracking financial transactions were missing in over 50% of the cases evaluated (sounds like Idaho LUMA) There was a complete lack of departmental oversight regarding supply chain integrity. There are 4.2 million government credit cards for 3.3 million people in the Federal government. There shouldn’t be more credit cards than people in the Federal government! People who believe otherwise also believe that there can be more votes cast in the precincts surrounding Detroit Michigan than there are people living in those precincts.

These problems aren’t unique to our Federal Government but are very much in play in Idaho. Our State government accounting and reconciliation systems are a mess. The fault lies squarely on the shoulders of our legislature and our Chief Executive. Governor Little is a good man, and I agree with him on most of his social policies including his positions on abortion and illegal drugs. Loyalty to a noble cause is certainly virtuous, but loyalty in the face of waste and malfeasance can be destructive and left to its’ own devices evolves into evil. In our State at the beginning of the legislative session we were promised by members in the Executive Branch and most but not all in leadership positions in the Idaho House and Senate, that the problems in the State Government that are costing taxpayers billions of dollars would be fixed.

Instead, a purposeful and well-conceived plan to hide the truth from Idahoans has been in play since at least last fall. I have only spoken to Alex Adams three times, but I believe with all my heart that his decision to leave State Government and become part of the Trump Department of Health and Welfare Team may at least in part been because he saw an opportunity to be part of the fixing of a problem, instead of being part of a system that only covers up issues with self-serving political narratives.

Let me list just a few of the problems that have been covered up and not addressed over the past nine

  1. LUMA Read the second paragraph above and you have an encapsulation of LUMA. Assigning a State Agency to audit and investigate LUMA is a way to appease citizens and the media—who have done little to cover this issue.
  1. The Idaho Health Data Exchange loss of over $150million. Where did it go? Into the coffers of venders and providers)?). Why no outside audits? Are many of those who took the money and didn’t provide the services they promised to deliver friends of important people in government?
  2. The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) The biggest mess of all. Who can blame Alex Adams for leaving? Over 45% of State spending goes through this department and there is little accounting for how the money is used.

We need outside audits of LUMA, The Idaho (DHW), and the Health Data Exchange.

We need outside audits of all organizations receiving over $100 million of State directed transfer payments, and these audits need to be a precondition for receiving future monies from our State Government.

Where is the mainstream media who is supposed to be the “watchdog of the government”? I can’t believe I am saying this, but we need a new Betsy Russell who will cover the facts and not lick the boots of the subjects that she is covering.

Whoever decides to run for Governor in the Republican Primary should make these campaign issues. Governor Little’s “tragic flaw” is his loyalty to his friends and to corporate interests—Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, Idaho Hospital—Medical Association, and the teachers’ unions. By not insisting on the accountability of government agencies like Mr. Trump is doing at the Federal level, he is thumbing his nose in the eye of WE THE PEOPLE, who he promised to make his first priority. Loyalty to us and to the Idaho Constitution should be his primary goal—not bending over to protect the corrupted agendas of special interests and lobbyists who fund political campaigns.

Time for those in Idaho government to wake up and follow Mr. Trump’s and Mr. Musk’s leadership examples. Whoever runs for Governor including Mr. Little, can make and show how they will keep such a promise—will get my vote. Otherwise, it is time for new blood. Maybe Alex Adams will come back. He does in fact know where the bodies are buried. There are many of competent new faces on the Idaho JV team. Who comes out swinging first may just pull off a great victory for Idaho citizens.
