They simply changed their tactics. The Democrat party was the party of slavery. When that failed it became the party of Jim Crow. And when that failed it became the party of the welfare state – a state aimed at poor blacks. They finally got it right.

The welfare state has destroyed the black family, caused black culture to become self-oppressing through the belief that what little racism exists is insurmountable, and has left blacks believing in large measure that they cannot succeed on their own without government intervention.

Black economist and social theorist Thomas Sowell said in his article “A Legacy of Liberalism”,

Despite the grand myth that black economic progress began or accelerated with the passage of the civil rights laws and ‘war on poverty’ programs of the 1960s, the cold fact is that the poverty rate among blacks fell from 87 percent in 1940 to 47 percent by 1960. This was before any of those programs began…

Nearly a hundred years of the supposed “legacy of slavery” found most black children being raised in two-parent families in 1960 [22%]. But thirty years after the liberal welfare state found the great majority of black children being raised by a single parent [67%].

In his article, “The Welfare State’s Legacy,” black economist Walter Williams stated,

The No. 1 problem among blacks is the effects stemming from a very weak family structure. Children from fatherless homes are likelier to drop out of high school, die by suicide, have behavioral disorders, join gangs, commit crimes, and end up in prison. They are also more likely to live in poverty-stricken households.

Williams then asks,

But is the weak black family a legacy of slavery [as claimed by the Democrats]?…Here’s my question: Was the increase in single-parent black families after 1960 a legacy of slavery [delayed by 100 years?], or might it be a legacy of the welfare state ushered in by the War on Poverty?

The Left is infamously known for applying misleading and benevolent sounding names to programs and ideas that have an opposite intent. In keeping with their history of racism, the Democrat’s so-called ‘War on Poverty’ was (and is) a highly effective ‘War on Black Families’. The US Department of Justice report, “What Can the Federal Government Do to Decrease Crime and Revitalize Communities?”, provided statistics on children from fatherless homes:

Suicide: 63 percent of youth suicides

Runaways: 90 percent of all homeless and runaway youths

Behavioral disorders: 85 percent of all children that exhibit behavioral disorders

High school dropouts: 71 percent of all high school dropouts

Juvenile detention rates: 70 percent of juveniles in state-operated institutions

Substance abuse: 75 percent of adolescent patients in substance abuse centers

Rape: 85 percent of rapists motivated by displaced anger are from fatherless homes.

Without fathers as social and economic role models, many boys try to establish their manhood through sexually predatory behavior, aggressiveness, or violence. These behaviors interfere with schooling, the development of work experience, and self-discipline.

Welfare not only destroys families, it destroys the future of children. Make no mistake. The purpose of welfare is not to help the needy as claimed, it is to keep its victims chained to their dependence on the state. Walter Williams summed this up when he stated:

The undeniable truth is that neither slavery nor Jim Crow nor the harshest racism has decimated the black family the way the welfare state has…. The most damage done to black Americans is inflicted by those politicians, civil rights leaders, and academics who assert that every problem confronting blacks is a result of a legacy of slavery and discrimination. That’s a vision that guarantees perpetuity for the problems.

True to its historical roots, the Democrat party is manipulating and using blacks (and people of color in general) for its own selfish ends. While the old overt systemic tools of racism including slavery and segregation have been eliminated from the American political system, the new systemic tool of racism, weaponized welfare, has been brandished with devastating effectiveness against blacks all deceitfully in the name of helping them.

There is a growing number of black voices speaking out against the false mantra of racism of the Left. They identify the real problems facing the black community as the destruction of the family, black on black violence, and reliance upon government. Brandon Tatum, former police officer and founder of TatumReport.com said in one of his YouTube videos:

If this country is so racist, then why do African immigrants do much better than African Americans who were born and raised here? It’s culture. One of the greatest minorities in this country are Asians. Why are they doing better than white people? It’s culture. While you’re [blacks] worried about LeBron James and how many three pointers he’s shooting, other people are worried about how to make money and build businesses and build economic wealth. Y’all can’t tell me nothing about the stock market, anything about investing, you can’t tell me the last book you read. But you can tell me who’s in the Final Four, you can tell me who’s going to the Super Bowl, you can tell me the stats of every NBA, NFL, and MLB player, but you don’t even know where you’re going in life. You ain’t done no investing in your future, but you want to blame somebody else. Take responsibility for your own actions. Take responsibility for your own life.

Anthony Brian Logan, a black YouTube commentator, discussed in one of his videos how racism and police brutality were simply not an issue in his life growing up:

I come from the ‘hood. White people and the police were never really an issue. When I was a kid it was rare to see a light-skinned person in my neighborhood let alone a white person. When I got to about 14, when I moved into a more mixed environment, then I was around white people. But they was the nicest people, you know? You go to their house their Mom’s serve you pancakes, waffles, beef stroganoff. Super nice. I never had any problems there. It was actually better in the more mixed environment than it was in the black area. That’s a fact…. This whole thing about white people and the police being oppressive is just not the reality in which we live. I think it is easier to look at that low hanging fruit than looking in the mirror and saying, hey, you’ve got to work on you, work on your environment, work on your kids, work on yourself. It’s easy to attack others rather than looking internally and fixing what’s going on.

Jericho Green, another black YouTube commenter, said in his “Reparations” video:

We need to start a serious conversation about repairing the black family. That’s all we need to talk about. Not reparations, not handouts, not hand-ups. Fix the family and everything else will fall in line. But Jericho, is it that simple? Yes, it’s that simple! The most successful groups of people in this country have the lowest number of out of wedlock births. That’s not a coincidence. If you want to pay reparations to the black community, how about this: how about you tell young black boys and girls if you wait until you’re married to have kids, we’ll give you some money. Why don’t you combat the incentives that are in place now that are telling them to get the man out of the house, that the family don’t mean anything, and neither do your lives. Why don’t you combat those government help programs? Why don’t you do that? Hey, stop having abortions and we’ll give you money. Stop accounting for a third of the abortions in this country [blacks are only 14% of the population] and we’ll give you some money. Finish high school, we’ll give you some money. Now if the family unit was intact, you wouldn’t need that s#*t. Do you see where I’m going with this?

Ty Smith, a black commentator, discussed the role of welfare as a continuation of the dependence of blacks on the slave masters even after slavery was abolished in his video “Welfare mentality sets you up for failure and keeps you mentally in chains. Who’s Chains? Let’s See!”:

Black slaves that were being freed in America were not allowed to have any responsibility. In doing so, it kept them dependent on the slave masters. Dependence is the key factor that remains to this day. It’s a continuous cycle. It’s keeping you [blacks] relying on the present-day slave master and its called welfare and other government programs. Having no responsibility is actually encouraged for folks that’s my race – blacks. I’ve seen it in the hood, I’ve seen it in the streets…. Having no responsibility, no accountability to anything is actually encouraged by what they are rewarding you with. Giving you welfare, giving you housing, giving you Section 8, giving you a free cell phone, and all kinds of other government programs, free lunch programs, free, free, free, free. What it does is it causes you and encourages you to develop an attitude that you are entitled to something and you don’t have to do anything to get it because all your life it has been given to you. All your life it has been encouraged for you to actually ask for things and desire things that you want but you don’t have to work to get it. And that’s why some of those kids out there now are really confused. You can’t really get through to some of them.

There are two kinds of Democrat: The high level people that are consciously continuing the racist vendetta against minorities under the carefully crafted guise of compassionately helping them, and those that are best described as the followers filled with white liberal blind benevolence who genuinely buy in to the false narrative and believe they are helping minorities. The followers also consist of the poor and minorities who receive the welfare and other hand-out benefits that they want to continue. The white liberals, who have never lived in the hood, never lived the life, promote the government machine of welfare blind to the reality of what is actually done to the black family and community by these programs. They call anyone that does not support this strategy a racist or an Uncle Tom. They are wholly unaware that they are supporting the single most successful racist campaign against blacks in US history. Systemic racism exists alright, but it’s not white privilege, it’s not the police, and it’s not a secret plot. It’s the welfare state promoted primarily by the party that cries racism at every opportunity – the Democrat party.

When the Left is telling me one thing by defending welfare and government programs as helping the poor – versus the blacks that have lived the life who are telling me something else, who should I believe? Well, I believe the people who have experienced it firsthand and are the object of all the ‘benefits’ being thrown at them.

Over half of the word count of this article are the words of black Americans – for a reason: Blacks are not puppy dogs that need to be protected and coddled by white liberals, politicians, and the white-owned corporate media. They are fully capable of standing on their own two feet and solving their own problems without outside involvement – just like all the other races. The sooner they free themselves from the influence of the Democrat’s racist and destructive political agenda the sooner they will be able to address their true problems in a meaningful way. I wish this new wave of black leaders well, and will support them in any way they deem useful.

Systemic Racism is Very Real – But It Is Not What the Left Says It Is The Democrat party did not suddenly metamorphize from being the party of racists to a party of black salvation.
