{"id":19362,"date":"2026-01-25T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gemstatepatriot.com\/blog\/?p=19362"},"modified":"2026-01-25T12:34:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T19:34:15","slug":"the-grocery-tax-debate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gemstatepatriot.com\/blog\/the-grocery-tax-debate\/","title":{"rendered":"The Grocery Tax Debate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Stand Up For <a href=\"https:\/\/standupforidaho.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Idaho<\/a> is a non-profit organization that holds weekly town hall meetings to inform and educate the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also has both a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCPx8mlqc_5JHQMl2a3Ta-Hg\/videos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">YouTube<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/c\/StandUpForIdaho?e9s=src_v1_cmd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rumble<\/a> site where video recorded meetings can be viewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At a recent town hall meeting, hosted by Jolyn Thomas from KID <a href=\"https:\/\/kidnewsradio.com\/jolyns-interviews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newsradio<\/a>, a discussion was held on the grocery tax debate. Included in the discussion were Howard <a href=\"https:\/\/payettecountygop.org\/leadership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rynearson<\/a>, Payette County Republican Central Committee Chairman, who has launched a ballot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktvb.com\/article\/news\/local\/gop-member-launches-ballot-initiative-eliminate-grocery-tax\/277-8926ced7-81c8-4d63-82fe-b44be197bae8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">initiative<\/a> to remove the grocery tax; Ron <a href=\"https:\/\/idahofreedom.org\/idaho-freedom-foundation-announces-new-leadership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nate<\/a>, Idaho Freedom Foundation President; and District 31 Representative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/IACI1974\/posts\/the-idaho-prosperity-fund-endorses-rod-furniss-for-district-31-house-seat-b-repr\/742657924561603\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rod<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/idgop.org\/candidate\/rod-furniss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Furniss<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both the grocery tax benefits and disadvantages were discussed, and how repealing that tax might impact Idaho citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion begins at the 12:53\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jhpJHIBoTDk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mark<\/a>.
