Dorothy Moon, a well-known conservative Republican Party leader and former school teacher from Stanley, announced today that she is running to represent District 8 in the state House of Representatives. Moon is seeking the seat held by freshman Rep. Merrill Beyeler.<\/p>\n
“The current officeholder promised he’d go to Boise and work for conservative values. Instead, he’s voted for higher taxes and more government regulations and red tape,” said Moon. “If I’m elected, I will work tirelessly to free our public lands from federal control, replace Common Core with higher, locally-developed education standards and work to lower taxes and cut government bureaucracy.”<\/p>\n
Moon is GOP chairwoman for the legislative district, which includes Lemhi, Custer, Boise, Valley and Gem counties. Her campaign has support from prominent conservative Republicans from throughout the district.<\/p>\n
“Dorothy is one of Idaho’s conservative superstars. She’s passionate about our nation’s founding principles, and will bring those principles back to Boise,” said Viki Purdy, Region 3 Republican chairman from New Meadows.<\/p>\n
“Dorothy Moon is the true conservative in this race. We can trust that when Dorothy’s at the statehouse she will do what she says and not the opposite,” said Valley County businessman Todd Hatfield.<\/p>\n
“She really understands the problems facing our region of the state, and I believe few people are as well qualified to tackle those issues than Dorothy Moon,” said Stephen Bauchman, a Custer County rancher.<\/p>\n
Moon has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education comprehensive science and a master’s degree in resource planning. She served as special education director for the Challis School District and taught junior and senior high science classes.<\/p>\n
She and her husband of 23 years, Darr, own Moon & Associates, a land surveying and engineering company. They have two grown sons, Dane and Parker.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
