Bob's Words of Wisdom

Thank You Kevin Miller for Giving Us a Voice

It was a dozen years ago that I first met Kevin Miller when I was a director of the Boise Tea Party. I remember the first time he put me on the air and called me Tea Party Bob a name that has stuck through the years. Kevin listened to what the Tea Party had to say and gave us an opportunity to not only tell the Tea Party story but to speak about the many other topics that affect our lives in the Treasure Valley.

In the early years of our relationship, there was a group of patriots who were willing to get up at 4 am on Saturday mornings and be at the Radio Station by 5 am to participate in a three-hour talk show hosted by Mr. Miller. He gave us an opportunity to express not only our opinions about political issues nationally but also the issues that were important to citizens of the Treasure Valley. In those three hours on Saturdays, we discussed everything from economics to why people should pick up their dogs’ poop. Kevin would look at me like I was crazy when I came into the station with 20 or 30 pages of notes that I would use during the broadcast. I found out very quickly without this abundance of information talking for 3 hours on the radio was quite a chore. I still don’t know how he does it 5 days a week. The last thing you want to do when you’re on the air is to give out inaccurate information because you can be sure that you will be called out by some listener who thinks they know more than you.

Kevin is a real animal lover, especially dogs, and I’m sure many of you will remember his weeklong stays in the Canyon County Animal Shelter where he tried to bring community awareness to the shelter. To be sure he was instrumental with his radio show which he broadcast from a cage in the shelter to help them win a $25,000 award in 2013 from the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge. This is a three-month competition where 49 animal shelters from across the country work to increase adoptions in order to win a piece of the $600,000 in ASPCA prize grants. I searched to find Kevin’s name mentioned in google articles about this achievement but alas I could not find one. You can be sure of one thing he certainly played an important role in promoting awareness of this shelter and saving the lives of hundreds if not thousands of animals.

Kevin is always doing something to help those who are less fortunate whether it be bringing awareness to an animal shelter or the Boise Rescue Mission you will always find Mr. Miller on the job. I can remember the first year he sponsored the Boise Rescue Mission for a weeklong stay at the Walmart broadcasting from a tent with little or no heat in temperatures of 10 degrees. I know this for a fact because I almost froze to death sitting there with him alongside Patriot Ray and several other supporters who wanted to help this worthwhile cause. Things have changed a bit since the first Rescue Mission stint as now the tent is heated and Kevin is supplied with an RV to stay in for the week by one of our generous RV dealers in the Treasure Valley. What Kevin has done for the Rescue Mission is nothing short of amazing with crusades for Thanksgiving and in May to raise awareness and money for this Mission that is so important to so many homeless in the Treasure Valley. Without the Rescue Mission, there would be hundreds more homeless roaming the streets of our cities.

Let’s not forget Kevin’s Promoting our Schools Securing Our Future crusades where he gets an opportunity to do live visits to many different schools in the Treasure Valley. He will literally spend 4 to 5 hours talking to both teachers and students getting a firsthand take on what is happening in the education arena. I don’t know of any other talk show host in Idaho who takes such an interest in our children’s education. I think part of his love for education is because he was once a teacher.

Kevin has also been a big part of helping his audience understand our political system in Idaho and the Treasure Valley. He is willing to have just about anyone on his show from the political world and is not the type of host that is always trying to play “I Gotchya” with his guests like so many others do. His fairness to his guests is beyond reproach asking important questions that the public would like to hear about. Whether it is the grocery tax or property taxes, infrastructure, or impact fees if you listen to his show you are sure to come away a lot smarter.

This man is not without portfolio with his many friends in the entertainment industry including the infamous Sean Hannity of Fox News. He is also the proud winner of the Marconi Radio Award for Medium Market Personality of the Year at the 2014 National Association of Broadcasters’ award ceremony. I’m proud to call Kevin my friend and thank him for bringing me into the world of talk radio 11 years ago. He even helped me get my own show for a year on Naturopathic healthcare. Both you and kevin are great men. We need you both in Idaho now more than ever.

Thanks to both of you.

Kevin,
I am so proud of you! When I was a US Senator from New Hampshire I worked on numerous animal cruelty issues with the Humane Society so I can appreciate all of your efforts in this area. I am fully aware of all of the other wonderful things that you do to help people. Keep up the good work and God bless you. Bob Smith former US Senator, NH

Thank you Kevin Miller and Tea Party Bob, and the band of brothers that Kevin brought together on his program. I listened on my way to my first service calls in the morning. You helped keep me sane and hopefull through all the craziness. Thank you both for your leadership and tireless service to our community. So glad to see Kevin host the freedom rally in Kleiner Park as our, “Anonymous Emcee”. Who else but Kevin!
God’s best blessings to you. John S
