My Safer Household

This election this year is one of the most important elections we have ever had in this country. It is on par with the Declaration of Independence. It is my conviction that this is the year for us to declare our Declaration of Independence.

It is not a time for deciding who holds what office in government, but rather each and every vote is to determine whether we will be a people that choose agency and freedom or if we will choose to be enslaved; forced and manipulated in the course of what others feel is right for us. 

This year we are choosing whether we will trust in God and in His Son, Jesus Christ, to make up for our mistakes, or willingly and voluntarily push our responsibilities and choices off onto others. We are choosing between different men but it is really a choice of principles. It is a choice that will determine the future of our very souls. Please do not make this choice rashly or with little care; go beyond what we read and/or are told in the newspaper, on TV, the internet or social media. This year’s choices must be made with the insight and help of God. This is an eternal decision for the very soul of our Nation, State and people.

Will we stand for agency and freedom of personal choice, or with tyranny, manipulation, and force? The choices are ours to make.

As it states in the United States Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these rights governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariable the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

I believe it is very important to always remember that the purpose of a government is to secure our rights! It is also noted that the government’s power comes from the “consent of the governed”. We have the opportunity to make change this year without changing the form of government, but by simply restoring the form of government that was set up under both the United States Constitution and the Idaho State Constitution. And we will need to put in place new guards for our future security.

Listed below are the repeated injuries and usurpations that were listed about King George that apply to our present government leadership.

  • Refused assent to laws the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
  • Forbidden [other parts of government] to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
  • Representative Houses repeatedly not assembling, for opposing with manly firmness in invasions on the rights of the people.
  • For depriving us, in many cases, of the benefits of trial by jury.
  • He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers, to harass our people, and eat out their substance.
  • Affected to make the [law enforcers] independent of, and superior to, the civil power.
  • The state and States have combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation.
  • Imposing increasing amounts of taxes on us without our consent.
  • For taking away our charters, abolishing our most valuable laws, and altering, fundamentally, the forms of our government.
  • For suspending our own legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

I, for one, and many others that I know, have done all that we can to make our feelings and desires known, but have been overlooked, pushed aside, and neglected as if we did not matter. We as a people are, and of right ought to be, free and independent, in ourselves, and the same goes for as States, and as States united as a whole. We have the rights from God to do all other acts and things which independent people have the right to do.
