Incrementally, steps are being taken to either engage Americans into an ongoing tracking or a digital ID system, all for the purposes of continual surveillance. One such step is about to become a requirement, or at least, that is what they want you to think.
Real ID is a program issued by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which has declared, “On May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.” But that isn’t true, it is what DHS wants you to believe. May 7 is only the date for the “progressive enforcement” of the rule.
A Real ID card can be identified by different star designs on a driver’s license, some are encircled with yellow or black. Determining if your state requires this card can be found on this map. Some states make Real ID optional, not a requirement, and some have passed laws prohibiting it. Currently, there are five states that mandate a Real ID, FL,GA, MS, TX and WY.
Every person age 18 and over must provide some type of other identification if they do not have a Real ID card. This may include a passport, passport card, enhanced driver’s license, foreign government passport, border crossing card, or other types of identification.
There are some who have concerns that this Real ID will mark the beginning of building a national data base that will become digitized on smartphones although the DHS denies this. Another concern is that this Act sets the stage for building a biometric database, which the government is encouraging. Facial scanning at the airport is also not required, although that is not always clearly advertised, and administered through IDEMIA which poses concerns for a national biometric ID system. Just don’t stand in front of that camera!
In Idaho Real ID is called the Star Card and is identified by a white star in the center of a yellow circle on the driver’s license. With some searching the fact that a Star Card is not mandatory can be found under Star cards quick facts with a link to choosing not to get a Star card.
More information on Real ID is available in this video starting at the 1:35″ mark, this article that also has information on Digital IDs, and in this Alex Newman video starting at the 24″ mark.
It might be time to contact your members of Congress and ask that this unconstitutional law is repealed and stopped. In the meantime, do not comply.
