Dear Neighbor — A message from Brent Regan

The Gem State Patriot is providing this information as a public service in the interest of nonpartisan voter education, and the opinions in this article are the opinions of the Kootenai County Republican Party.

First, I would like to thank you for your support these last 10 years. It has been an honor to serve as your Precinct Committeeman for the Kootenai County Republican Party, and I was especially honored to be selected as one of Idaho’s four electors for the Electoral College.

Kootenai County has grown a lot in the last 10 years. Registered voters have increased 45%, but nearly all of that growth is due to Republican voters. Republicans are now 67% of registered voters, up from 52% ten years ago. Democrats are less than 9%. Our party is growing stronger.

The 2026 Primary Election will be on Tuesday, May 19. Please mark your calendar.

  • Last day to request an absentee ballot: May 8
  • Early voting at the Elections Office (1808 N. 3rd): 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 4 through May 15
  • Fire Station polling place on 15th Street will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on May 19

There are some important races on the ballot, so it is well worth your time to vote.

I have included a sample ballot for our precinct on the back. I have marked the KCRCC recommended candidates and added my own recommendations where the KCRCC was silent. Nine of the candidates are running unopposed, but they only received a recommendation if they earned over 50% of the votes from the Precinct Committeemen serving on the KCRCC.

The KCRCC does not make recommendations for judges. I asked several attorneys about the judges and only received recommendations for two, which I have marked. I plan to leave the others blank. At the urging of the KCRCC, an independent group is forming to provide information on judges so we can make a better-informed decision. Hopefully this will be in place before the next election.

The Kootenai Fire and Rescue is asking for a levy. They ran a levy last election that failed by a small margin, so they downsized their ask. The money will be used to keep response times short. Long response times can cause big increases in home insurance rates, so voting for this could save you more than the levy costs on your insurance bill. Supporting the levy seems wise.

Come May 19, I would respectfully request that you take a few minutes to go to the Fire Station on 15th Street and remember Brent Regan when you cast your ballot. I will continue to stand strong for our conservative values.

Please contact me with any questions or issues. Thank you for your kind consideration.

Best regards,
Brent Regan
