Golden Age

We are on the cusp of either a Golden Age or ruin. Will we have the judgement and fortitude to make the right decisions?

There is nothing in human experience that prepares us for the scale of a trillion. It may be intellectually comprehensible but we have no innate sense for how big a trillion really is. It takes about two weeks for your heart to beat one million times. In your lifetime your heart will beat about two billion times. A trillion heartbeats would take over thirty thousand years, five times longer than human civilization has existed.

When Bernie Sanders talks about millionaires and billionaires he acts like they are the same when a millionaire has only 0.1% the net worth of a billionaire. It takes a thousand millions to equal a billion. Putting them in the same class is like saying a penny is the same as a hundred dollar bill.

To go from a billion to a trillion takes another thousand times leap. There are a million millions in a trillion. The scale is staggering and beyond true visceral comprehension which is why it has little emotional impact. It’s too big to feel.

Our National Debt is expanding at an exponential rate. Just servicing that debt is the same scale as our defense budget. We are on a clear path to economic destruction. There is no doubt that without a major correction we will spend our way into a worldwide financial Armageddon that will make the Great Depression look like a market correction. How did we get here? Our Democracy has allowed our bureaucracies to grow unchecked until all safeguards have practically atrophied.

Democracies invariably fail when the majority realizes they can vote themselves a portion of the public treasury. While graft and corruption have always existed, this time the enormous scale threatens our existence. The parasites are bleeding the host to death.

The Biden administration greatly expanded the lunacy envelope. Border policy, transgender insanity, DEI, failure of basic emergency services, economic chaos and international embarrassment opened the way for a president who advocates basic common sense.

As Carter gave us Reagan, Biden gave us Trump 2.0. We are witnessing what can happen when a president starts his second term after a four year sabbatical from his first term. All the planning and preparation rolling out at warp speed is exhilarating.

The president has Constitutional authority over all elements of the Executive Branch and Trump used his Constitutional authority to appoint Elon Musk head of Department of Government Efficiency DOGE. It was a masterstroke on several levels. Both men understand the practical needs in running a successful business and saw the opportunity to apply their skills to the bloated bureaucracy that had become a kleptocracy at a scale that is shocking.

What DOGE has started to uncover is that there is an unknown number of federal agencies, somewhere between 450 and 550, who spend an unknown sum or money on unknown projects. There are no systems in place to track or audit the expenditures and this seems to be prevalent across many (all?) components of the federal government. Everywhere DOGE has looked there has been waste and fraud on a massive scale and, shockingly, there are few or no systems to prevent the waste and fraud.

Even the most basic accounting system requires that expenses be categorized by type and purpose. This is essential for any subsequent audit. Rather than have a system that contains safeguards and checks against fraud it seems that the primary objective is to spend money with a minimum of effort. People who don’t get their money complain and dealing with complaints takes work so the simple solution is to pay everyone, all the time even if it is fraudulent. There is no penalty for making an improper payment.

This level of fraud and waste is small in comparison to the larger programs. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was originally formed by an Executive Order from President Kennedy. Its original mission to provide assistance to developing nations, it has evolved into a money laundering engine to fund a mostly liberal agenda. How do we know? Simply look who complains if USAID funding stops.

Any charity repeated over time will eventually be perceived as an obligation. While we may not know why or for what actual purpose these payments are made, stopping them will cause the beneficiary to pop up like a Prairie Dog and complain loudly. Many Democrats and others who have been benefactors of this bounty are shrieking their objections to the money flow being throttled. What they are really doing is self-identifying as grifters, and they don’t seem to recognize that fact.

Democrats foolishly attack Musk. It is foolish because Musk doesn’t care and Trump is happy to have the fire not directed at him. Trump’s approval ratings are a record highs and climbing. Over 70% believe Trump is fulfilling his campaign promises. Meanwhile the left is fully engaged in stopping the Trump agenda, the thing everybody wants, using protests, media gaslighting and lawfare in the courts.

Know that Democrats and progressives will succeed in keeping us on the road to ruin if you allow it.

When you remove a cancer there is pain during the procedure that must be tolerated. It comes down to this. Do we have the judgement and fortitude to endure the temporary discomfort needed to launch America’s Golden Age. I think we do.

It’s just common sense.
