2025 Idaho GOP Winter Meeting Resolutions Review

The 2025 Winter Meeting of the Idaho Republican Party is just around the corner, taking place January 3rd and 4th at the Riverside Hotel in Boise. This event brings together members of the State Central Committee (SCC), including the County Chair, State Committeeman, State Committeewoman, State Youth Committeeman, the Executive Board, and Legislative District Chairs, to discuss and vote on various resolutions that reflect the voices of Idaho Republicans. These resolutions are critical in shaping the agenda for the upcoming legislative session.

Resolutions submitted by counties represent the hard work and dedication of our members to ensure grassroots input is heard. Once approved at the Winter Meeting, these resolutions will move into the capable hands of our Legislative Liaisons, Josh Tanner and Glenneda Zuiderveld. They will take these resolutions forward to our state legislature, collaborating with representatives to advance them through the legislative process.

This year, three resolutions submitted by the State Central Committee stand out.

The first is the “Simple Majority” resolution, which seeks to ensure that primary election winners receive over 50% of the vote. This will guarantee candidates have broad support from party members and reflect the will of the majority.

The second is the censure resolution against Hyrum Erickson, backed by counties from across Idaho. This resolution highlights the need for accountability after his actions opposing the party’s stance on Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). His rhetoric undermined Republican values, and this censure sends a clear message to uphold party principles.

The third resolution addresses Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives in higher education. While the Idaho Department of Education recently struck down DEI policies, this resolution aims to codify such actions into law. It ensures these principles align with the voice of Idahoans and creates legal safeguards against policy reversals.

The 2025 Winter Meeting will set a decisive tone for the upcoming legislative session. I encourage all Idaho Republicans to review these resolutions and stay engaged in the legislative process. Together, we ensure our party remains a strong voice for the values of this great state. For more details, you can view the resolutions on our website at IDGOP.org.
