This Explains A Lot

Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Sara Armstrong is leaving the party’s top staff position to become a senior official with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

In a news release Thursday, the powerful business organization announced that Armstrong had been hired as vice president for political affairs and federal relations.

Before serving as RNC chief of staff, Armstrong headed President Donald Trump’s inauguration and was vice president of the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland. She worked for the RNC since 2009, including as deputy chief of staff.

Just in case you mistake the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for your local Chamber of Commerce that promotes the Mom and Pop businesses on Main Street in your home town, let us disabuse you of that notion.

The establishment media tends to class the US Chamber of Commerce as a “conservative” organization and assume – wrongly – that its lobbying efforts advance conservative and Republican interests, but nothing could be further from the truth.

The US Chamber of Commerce, and particularly its president, Thomas J. Donohue, represents the toxic alliance of Big Government and Big Business that we commonly refer to as the Wall Street – Washington – Silicon Valley Axis.

In other words, the US Chamber of Commerce is the swamp.

Most people have probably forgotten that the US Chamber attacked Donald Trump and the trade policies he articulated during the campaign, but Trump’s trade speech in Pennsylvania was a turning point in the campaign – the first clear articulation of his “American Worker First” economic policies.

Nor should CHQ readers forget that this same Tom Donohue who attacked Trump for his “American Worker First” policies also told Tea Partiers that they must raise the debt ceiling or “we will get rid of you.”

Donohue is also one of the leading advocate for amnesty for illegal aliens and last election cycle spent something like $50 million raised from the cheap labor wing of the business community to advance amnesty, the number one goal of Hillary Clinton.

As CHQ Chairman Richard A. Viguerie noted in his book, TAKEOVER, Donohue knows none of his member companies would run their business the way the Washington establishment runs the federal government. But his job isn’t to advocate for fiscal sanity or pro-growth economic policies, it is to protect the Wall Street–Washington– Silicon Valley axis that pays his salary.

Forget for a moment the sensible policy specifics of Donald Trump’s speech in Monessen, Pennsylvania, here’s what Trump said that really scared Tom Donohue and his paymasters in Wall Street – Washington – Silicon Valley axis:

Many Pennsylvania towns, once thriving and humming, are now in a state of total disrepair. This wave of globalization has wiped out totally, totally, our middle class. It does not have to be this way. We can turn it around and we can turn it around fast.

But if we are going to deliver real change, we’re going to have to reject the campaign of fear and intimidation being pursued by powerful corporations, media leaks and political dynasties. The people who rigged the system for their benefit will do anything and say anything to keep things exactly the way they are.

The people who rigged the system are supporting Hillary Clinton because they know as long as she is in charge, nothing is going to change. The inner cities will remain poor. The factories will remain closed. The borders will remain open. The special interests will remain firmly in control. Hillary Clinton and her friends in global finance want to scare America into thinking small.

In that Trump is exactly right, “The people who rigged the system are supporting Hillary Clinton because they know as long as she is in charge, nothing is going to change.

This goes for Speaker Paul Ryan, billionaires Paul Singer and Mark Zuckerberg and for the far-Left progressives of the Planned Parenthood Industry of Death and the refugee resettlement industry that is using our tax dollars to import Muslim terrorists to America.

They are all part of a corrupt insider bargain between Big Government, Big Business and Big Lobbying – and they will do anything and say anything to keep things exactly the way they are.

And that’s the new team that Sara Armstrong has joined as vice president for political affairs and federal relations for the US Chamber of Commerce.

Trump made another point that should be self-evident to America’s political class – or perhaps it is self-evident and they are so corrupt that they just don’t care – and it is something that every voter should remember as Congress stalls President Trump’s pro-growth economic agenda:

America became the world’s dominant economy by becoming the world’s dominant producer. You know that from right here, right in this plant.

The wealth this created was shared broadly, creating the biggest middle-class the world has ever known. But then, America changed its policy from promoting development in America — in, in, in America — to promoting development in other nations. That’s what’s happening and that’s what’s happened.

We allowed foreign countries to subsidize their goods, devalue their currencies, violate their agreements and cheat in every way imaginable, and our politicians did nothing about it. Trillions of our dollars and millions of our jobs flowed overseas as a result. I have visited cities and towns across this country where one-third or even half of manufacturing jobs have been wiped out in the last 20 years. Today, we import nearly $800 billion more in goods than we export. We can’t continue to do that. This is not some natural disaster, it’s a political and politician-made disaster.

In this Donald Trump is once again exactly correct – America’s economic meltdown, caused by improvident trade deals, unsustainable deficit spending by Congress, and a regime of unrealistic and uneconomic regulation is a political and politician-made disaster.

The destruction of America’s middle class, wrought over the past two decades and continuing today, wasn’t caused by some inevitable, pre-destined economic force – it was caused by the leaders we elected and entrusted with our government.

As if having Wall Street wonder boy Gary Cohn trying to undo the President’s economic nationalism from a big office in the West Wing wasn’t bad enough, the US Chamber of Commerce is buying access to the Trump White House by hiring Sara Armstrong.

President Trump was right when he said, “The people who rigged the system for their benefit will do anything and say anything to keep things exactly the way they are,” including hiring the Republican National Committee’s Chief of Staff to try to influence a President whose election they opposed.

You can take it to the bank – as Ms. Armstrong will – that Armstrong will not be calling President Trump and asking him to fight for America’s working families and struggling manufacturing towns. She will be carrying the water for Tom Donohue, Mark Zuckerberg and the rest of the open borders globalist elite that President Trump’s voters thought he would protect them from – shame on her and anyone else from the Trump campaign who switches sides to make money working against the policies the President campaigned on.
